Where We Came From
The Ōnin Group was founded in Dallas, Texas in 1993 by Managing Partner Keith Phillips. What started with folding furniture, a phone, and a commitment to treating people right grew into one of the largest privately held staffing companies in the country, with a presence in over 26 states and Teammates working in all 50.
Managing Partner Hugh Thomas joined in 1996, and together they built a company that has stayed debt-free and privately held through every economic cycle since. No outside investors. No short-term thinking. Just a long commitment to doing the work the right way.
Ōnin Technology is the next chapter of that story. As the industries we’ve served for decades began facing complex technical challenges like AI readiness, ERP modernization, cloud migration, and post-acquisition integration, we built a brand specifically to meet that moment. Not as an IT staffing startup. As a transformation partner with 30 years of industrial credibility behind it.
